Many people do not think of solar energy as going back so far in time, but if people really thought about it, they could see that the sun has been here forever providing the Earth with sunlight. This means that there has always been solar energy on the planet. Sunlight has been used as solar energy for many different purposes over thousands of years; varying from reflecting sunlight to burn objects for religious reasons, to the modern day solar panel to save energy and money. As time went on, humans started to realize that they could "harness" the sun's light and use it for personal gain. Things like this included sun rooms to relax in, reflecting sunlight to keep warm in the harsh winters, and even warfare!
